the Northwest Branch Trail | Hiking

The Northwest Branch Trail is right around the corner from where we live, and hiking is something we both love, and growing up around mountains I always loved a good weekend hike!  We live quite close to the Northwest Branch Trail, and have driven by it many times! We would see people park play around the waterfall, and enjoy the trail, but we never took the time for ourselves to do it!  So this past weekend we FINALLY had a quiet one with nothing on the calendar!  We have had a busy summer, and have realized we need more of these weekends!  So we inspected the trail online, checked out the directions, distances, terrain, etc. Strapped up dexter and went on an adventure! I have to say Dex is a trooper we got a workout, and we can’t wait to do it again! We met so many off leash dogs along the way, friendly people that hike it regularly, and it is just the amount of up and down dexter needs!  The only thing is that he was so excited in the beginning that by about the 2.0 mile mark we had to turn back so we didn’t completely exhaust him! He made it 3.7 miles total, and I couldn’t be more proud of his ability to do so!  With the new Ruffwear leash the hike was perfect for us and him! We are already looking at the calendar to plan another jaunt down the trail in the coming weeks!
