Rolling Thunder rolls into Washington, DC from across the nation every memorial day weekend! I see post on facebook from my parents and cousins in Kentucky and Indiana when they watch them roll through town! It is quite the event around here, for all these motorcycles to come into town and remember the fallen troops, while supporting the troops. There are rallies, parades, vigils, and more parades throughout the city. On Sunday we did not have anything going on and thought we would attempt at heading down to the Rolling Thunder parade around the National Mall, and take Dexter on his first Washington, DC adventure! We drove down the west side of the city avoiding all tourist routes, and found a quick and easy parking spot in a garage, dexter also had his first elevator experience (not a fan)! Once we were downtown, knowing the parade encircles the entire National Mall we just had to find a nice sunny spot that we could sit, and enjoy the motorcycles, and dexter would be comfortable! We staked out our spot right along Constitution Ave. in front of the National Museum of American History. Dexter did great most of the day, he was a little annoyed by the noise of the motorcycles, but other than that was friendly to everyone that said “AHHHH a PUPPY!!!”
Here is a little documentation of our day, and some of the Motorcycles we saw! Look for the dog riding co-pilot :), and half the photos were taken by Dan!!!! *he may be a photographer after all ;)!
