Our adventure to find our boat was interesting to say the least! We knew where the Port of Barcelona was, because we checked it out the night before! We searched around the port looking to see where the Norwegian fleet docked, thinking we found it near Dock E. The next morning after looking at maps, talking to our hotel, and knowing already where the port was, we decided on the metro to the port, then walk our bags and ourselves to the boat. We did not want to fork over cash for a taxi that would just be silly :) In the end I think we worked off all the calories before the trip so we could gain them all back in Italy and Greece with all the delicious food! While walking we spotted the port office, so Dan decided before going farther to ask where the Spirit was docked! The guy in the office looked at Dan and I, and decided we were fit for what was ahead and pointed us in the direction of a mile long very tall port bridge with a sidewalk to walk over! SERIOUSLY!!!!! Thank goodness for water and wind and a honeymoon ahead to get us over this bridge!
1. We did not know ahead of time, but being American we had to hand over our passports completely to officials on the boat. This was because of issues going from EU countries to non-EU countries (Turkey) and to one Schengen country (Greece). We were a little caught off guard by this, especially since we did not get this briefing from any one except the captain when we were checking in at the desk day of embarking. Imagine our panic when you are always told to never let your passport out of your site! Thankfully we had copies if anything were to happen.
2. Norwegian has a eat anywhere on the boat you want policy, which is amazing! What we also did not see or mis read somewhere, was for Dan to bring more pants! One of the dining rooms (the nicer one with out kids) was pants only no shorts for men! It was our favorite place to eat (better views) and staff! Thankfully we kept his one pair of khakis clean the whole trip!
3. On boat days or sea days! The deck on the Norwegian is small so you have to wake up EARLY to save your spot if you want to sun bathed at all on those days! The Europeans are early risers and love their tans :)
4. You will meet some awesome people! We met two very amazing couples (both older than us) from Ohio and Germany (he was in the army). So keep your options open and get to know people while you are traveling because after all you are with the same people for 12 days!
Enough of my tips and rambling! Ask questions if you have them! Here are photos from Embarking day!
our boat is the 4th one away from us in the picture as we climb the bridge!
made it to the top of the bridge much needed photo op and water breathing stop!
Oh boy was it nice to see this up close :)
obligatory photo op! with the cell phone :)
and here is one of the fabulous photos that the boat photographers took :) shhh don’t tell!
pool party and bbq for disembarking and leaving Barcelona!
The massive EPIC sailing by it was twice our size!
Because our boat was so small we could back up out of our docking spot in to the Barcelona Port! It was amazing to see us back up and turn around!
Dan’s attempt to get me to smile laugh and enjoy the sunset! I was freaked out by the wind and losing something overboard :)
Gorgeous Sunset as we left Barcelona!
by the time dinner was served it was DARK but that is Barcelona in the distance!

would love to hear if you have any Norwegian Cruise Lines memories! I can not wait to go on another one!
