It is bittersweet and some what emotional that I write this last honeymoon post almost a year to the day that we got married and returned from our amazing 14 day vacation! Venice Italy was the last port of our honeymoon, but we thankfully extended our stay by 1 day and were able to visit Murano on our last day capping it off by a delicious dinner and wine in Venice! So here it goes our last day on our honeymoon!
First we had to leave our “home” for two weeks! The amazing Norweigian Spirit, was the best home we could call home for two weeks on the water! We met so many friends, and had so much fun people watching the European life!
Prior to our honeymoon/vacation we knew we couldn’t afford staying on the “island” of Venice so we found an extremely close to the bus and train station to get ease of getting on and off the mainland!
We stayed at the adorable Hotel Martello on the mainland of Venice! It is owned by a sweet lady, and because of that we were able to show up at our own scheduled time, it was all very personal! A typical European hotel room of two twin beds pushed together, no carpet on the floors, with a wet bathroom! Made the end of our trip that much better! We really only spent the time to sleep there as we tried to enjoy every last minute in Europe outside of our hotel!
After checking into the hotel on the mainland, and with perfect directions from the owner we headed back to Venice, and the water bus to make our way to Murano for the day with no agenda!
Murano is the island known for glass! We took the water bus to the first stop on Murano and made our way around the island on foot! We hoped to peek into some glass factories, purchase some glass, and enjoy some of the peace and quiet of Murano!
They made a Turtle for us!
Our bus stop to get back across the water for dinner!
After a nice long day in Murano we brought the water bus back to Venice, and decided to wander through the streets/alley’s until we found what looked to be a family owned restaurant where we could get one last delicious Italian meal to hopefully hold us over till we could get back to Italy! We ordered Bruschetta (probably the best we had in all of Italy), Tomato Mozzarella Basil Balsamic and Olive Oil, and 2 pizzas! We topped the dinner off with 2 bottles of wine and some delicious coffee! If you asked Dan he would tell you it was the best meal we had next to Turkey! Which I don’t think you can compare the two!
Well there you have it our honeymoon has been completely blogged! I can’t believe it has almost been a year since this amazing vacation, and I can’t wait to put another on the calendar!
Here is a look back if you want one!
Hope this tiny series of traveling around Europe was helpful! Can’t wait to blog more of our travel adventures!
