The flower girl and ring bearer in my wedding are brother and sister, and the son and daughter of my youth pastor and her husband, who were also a part of our ceremony. I babysat these two, since they were infants, and when they moved away to South Carolina, I kept in touch with them by reconnecting almost every summer!
Before Dan and I got engaged there were those few people (in my head) that I wanted Dan to meet. Katherine and Rob and their amazing kids were a just a few of them! Dan got to meet them at Taylor and Blair’s wedding a couple months before we got engaged! Gerrit and Zoe loved him, Katherine and Rob grilled him :) as expected! I knew after he had met them, and of course hit if off, this was going to work for the long haul! Well I probably knew before that but this sealed the deal!!!!!
Back to Gerrit and Zoe as our flower girl and ring bearer (Zoe did carry flowers, but Gerrit didn’t carry the rings), he was a great escort for his sister!! They had those titles because what else do you call a 6 and 9 year old (at the time) in a wedding? I wanted them in the wedding because they had been a huge part of my life, so I wanted them to be a big part of my wedding day! They had so much fun hanging out with us while we got ready, had our pictures taken, and told old stories!
I secretly wanted the groomsmen to wear seersucker on my wedding day (dan wouldn’t go for it), so to still get it in my wedding day, I had Zoe and Gerrit wear it! Perfect for their age and my southern girl wedding day!!
Gerrit wore khaki pants, white button down to match the groomsmen, and a seersucker tie to match his sister!
These two loved being apart of the day and hanging with the big kids on my wedding day!
Here is their look,
We look like rockstars, don’t you think? and look at those little TOMS blue squares on the back of all our shoes :)
One of my favorite photos of the day!
Zoe was just waiting and watching the ladies get their photos taken! Love this shot that Jody or Zach grabbed in the moment!
At the request of the bride (autie ray) all they had to do was hold hands down the aisle! A huge accomplishment for a brother and sister :) LOVE THEM!!
I don’t know who was telling stories but something was hilarious!
