Dexter and Finnagan the August 2014 edition with my nice camera! Dan has been mentioning to me almost every day that I need to get the dogs back in front of my nice camera good lenses, and not just cell phone photos. I try to make this happen often but just forget. So I did yesterday playtime, balls, and lots of running (barely listening), but got some good ones that I think bring out their personalities to a “T.”
Dexter – Still loves playing with his ball, he will do anything for his ball, so even though the mosquitos are in full season we have been dressing up in head to toe winter garb to go out back and play with the ball. He is 2.5 years old, still spunky, cat like self, and runs until we stop him. The boy will run run run all for his ball as long as we are throwing it. He loves to swim like a fish, we can’t keep him out of the water when we get him in it, especially if he is chasing the ball. He is a great big brother plays crazily with finn about 75% of the time, but boy is Dexter introverted he needs his me time. He still sleeps in bed with us has to be close at all times, it works for him because Finn has no desire to sleep in the bed. Win Win for dexter.
Finnagan – He is a goon, looney toon, or small deer (as my dad calls him). He is still growing 59 lbs at 7 months old. We are pretty sure the height is done, and now we are just waiting for his muscles to fill out. He eats anything we put down for him, loves his food. He loves his brother dexter and thinks at all times he is ready to play with him. Finn is our extrovert that is for sure. He bounds through the yard like a gazelle, playing with his new favorite toy hitting him self in the head and being chased by dad. He loves being pet constantly, if we start petting dexter finn must be pet as well. If we sit on the floor he will bury his head and flip upside down all for pets. Finnagan must have what dexter has but dexter must never give him that. Finnagan is still not sure why dexter barks and chases his ball at loud and fast paces across the yard, so in return Finnagan just steals the ball and runs off hoping dexter will chase him. The little man has chewed himself out of 3 harnesses so we have switched to a no slip collar. He loves walks, and anything that involves going out the front door. He is 75% listening to our commands, and rarely disobeys, but hey he is still a puppy so I think we are doing alright. Your guess is as good as mine on what he is mixed with but I think he is mixed with 100% awesome.
Both our dogs could not fit into our lives any better. They have been troopers through the bath reno, and I think they are ready for us to be done just as much as we are. They both love hiking on the weekends, long walks, and being chased and played with. We can’t wait to take them to North Carolina next month for a week long vacation in the mountains with Mimi and Pops, there will be lots of hiking, petting, swimming, creek walking, and sleeping. It is sure to be an adventure.
He goes to hide in the ivy he thinks that no one can see him!
It is extremely hard to sit still when mom and dad won’t throw my ball.
(Start of next scene) Finnagan steals ball, dexter growls at finn, finn drops ball
But why oh why are you barking brother …
Maybe if I grab your neck you will stop barking brother…
Mom I got rid of finn can you please throw my ball now…
Dad why is mom holding that stupid black thing that makes clicking noises and not throwing my ball…
ok I will stand for 1 second hurry ….
please just throw the damn orange thing… ppleeeseseseee
finally my people listened to me (end scene)
and finnagan’s life of being a goon (i wish I could see the thoughts in his head), sit, stick, lay, sit, ball, dexter, ball, hit myself with them, dad’s here …
He only rolls his head one way, and when I get my mom on facetime to whistle finnagan reacts the same way and licks the phone till she stops!
Love these boys! Dexter is a rescue from a litter born in my cousins backyard to a stray mom, and Finn is a rescue from Operation Paws for Homes (who we love and I recommend 100%)
