The Detroit Tigers (my team) open at home today against the Yankees, its going to be a cold but beautiful baseball game in Detroit. Baseball means so many things! The boys of summer are back, spring is really here (whether it believes it or not), and no team can break my heart again till the fall! Baseball was introduced to me as a little girl when I would go visit my grandparents and my grandpa would fall asleep with Tigers games on the TV. My mom taught me how to keep score the old pencil and paper way, and I caught a couple (or dad did) baseballs at the games. Baseball is truly America’s game!
The tigers have not won the World Series since 1984, the year after I was born, so maybe I was a good luck charm :) They have however won the pennant in recent years 2006 and 2012 both ending in losing to the Cardinals, and Giants in the World Series. Ohy, couldn’t get past Boston 2 years ago in the ALCS (who ultimately won the World Series), and then 2014 couldn’t get past the O’s in the first round of the playoffs. Last year let’s just not talk about it. Let’s get out of the ALCS and win the World Series!
So here’s to the Boys of Summer! I am so ready to see them play, cheering on the whole team all the way to the World Series!
*and just for a little spot for my Husband (he is an orioles fan) they opened at home on 4/4/16 against the Minnesota Twins*
and a couple photos of us enjoying a spirited game of the Tigers v. O’s with our great friends Earl and Katie! We will definitely be going to games with them again this year and probably toting the new baby along, but maybe not Tigers games as we always seem to lose when I watch them play in Baltimore :)
Happy Opening Day to everyone!
